True Scents and Minerals Basic MakeUp Workshop

Posted on January 19, 2011 by darlyn

For artists, women in the fashion industry and make-up enthusiast, achieving a perfect look can be easy. Whereas for us ordinary women, having a winning look is hard to achieve, except for three things: (1) you have your own products and tools (2) you want to apply makeup daily (3) you know the make-up basics.

If you don’t have your own make-up kits and make-up brushes, don’t you worry. There are a lot of stores offering both expensive and affordable makeup products and tools nowadays. But since you will apply make-up from time to time, it would be a great idea if you’ll invest on good products and materials.

In applying a make-up, there are some basic rules and knowing them is so important to get a spotlessly beautiful look. Thanks to Ms Bunny of True Scents and Minerals for the basic tips and here are the things I’ve learned from her:

  • It is always recommended to start with cleansed and toned skin. When applying a moisturizer, leave the skin for a few minutes so the makeup won’t melt easily. Primer is a must or use water instead so that the skin stay fresh for hours.
  • For foundation, choose one that blends well with the skin. Applying foundation first at the back on the hand or rubbing a little on the chin to know which foundation matches your skin tone. But a product with a yellow undertone always matched the Asian skin.
  • Now comes the eye shadow – a fun part. Use the light eye shadow on your eyelids and brow bone while the darker one for the crease. Then blend, blend and blend. Apply liner, ( I prefer the brown liner, black appears too harsh), curl your lashes and put mascara. Oh, by the way, don’t forget to define your brows with pencil or eye shadow powder for it makes a huge difference on your overall look.
  • For the checks, apply a blush and blend it well until it looks like a natural flushed on the checks.
  • Lastly, apply lipstick and lip balm.

That’s so easy. The output?? here it comes :)
